I dunno, Jim... playing guitar, hangin' w/ the hot nurses, strolling around at 4 a.m... are you sure this isn't some sort of elaborate ruse you've concocted to relive your not-so-long-ago youth?! If so, there are MUCH easier ways that you could have gone about this! Thinking of you and wishing you strength, rest, and some really good white cell counts, -Lauren Brownstein (a.k.a. Brownie)

Thinking of you out here in in the San Francisco Bay so you definitely have some love streaming at you from the west.

Yo Jim, Tried to leave a voice message/recitation for you on the John Havens blog - but techinical difficulties kicked in. You look great! Hope you are feeling fine.

All Good Thoughts, Prayers, Music, and THANKS are on the way to you from me! Happy Thanksgiving!

Here's a new poem for you:

SMOKESTACK 11.16.06

staring at the world
from a bus on the road

the heads tend to turn to the side
listing over one shoulder or another

in pensive melancholia

could be the name of a town
that seemingly everyone’s been to
or will surely one day visit
and undoubtedly return to again

if not right now
in life

just passing thru

as
always

making room for wonder

Jim,
Wow, we've been so worried about you and now I come here and see you looking great and hanging out with cute nurses! It's ALWAYS the bass players....
Seriously, you're in our prayers and we can't wait to see you. It's great to see that your spirit remains soaring as ever.

All our love,

Kate, Allen, Em, Sam & Allie Ampel
